NIDDERDALE COMMUNITY TRANSPORT is a new partnership with North Yorkshire County Council, who have provided Nidderdale Plus with a Community Car, for use by residents who have no access to public or private transport, may live in a rurally-isolated location and require door-to-door assistance with local transport needs. Volunteer drivers have been trained and undergone disclosure and barring checks and are available for pre-booked journeys. Contact Partnership Office and tell us your travel needs – we will try to find a volunteer driver for you, and will advise on fares (according to mileage). We offer concessionary fares and want to ensure that this remains a sustainable but affordable local service.

Some of our volunteer drivers have trained to drive the Nidderdale High School minibus – and these volunteers are available for any community organisation (such as local youth groups) in need of assistance with trips and travel arrangements. Booking of the minibus is via reception at the High School.

UPPER NIDDERDALE FOOD BANK and HARROGATE HOMELESS PROJECT: The Food Bank at Pateley Bridge has now moved to St Cuthbert’s Church. Food parcels will be available to those who are in need, and have a voucher. These can be obtained by contacting:

SIGNPOSTING TO LOCAL SUPPORT SERVICES: Nidderdale Plus works hard to ensure there are connections between projects and organisations working to support residents of Nidderdale and that projects are promoted through community organisations and individuals. Services such as the British Red Cross Pateley Bridge Community Connect project (tackling rural isolation), the Ripon and Rural Well-Being Service run by the local CVS (for the elderly and vulnerable) and work by Rural Action Yorkshire (reducing energy bills, addressing concerns re Winter Warmth). Contact Partnership Office for further details of any of these local projects and their activities and events.

PARTNERSHIPS WITH PUBLIC SECTOR ORGANISATIONS: Nidderdale Plus Partnership unites North Yorkshire County Council, Harrogate Borough Council, North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and Neighbourhood Watch in one place, helping local residents access all these services in one place.

community_safety_logoNidderdale Plus is also part of the Harrogate District Safer Communities Partnership. The ‘Safer Nidderdale’ group works together to ensure that Nidderdale is an even safer place to live and, whilst Nidderdale has very low crime rates, this group works to ensure that crime stays low. Through attendance at local events, including the Nidderdale Show, Birstwith Show, Young Farmers Show and Nidderdale Horse Show, issues of community safety such as vehicle crime, bogus callers, theft of property and general personal safety can be raised and advice given.

PARISH COUNCILS

The Nidderdale Plus Partnership seeks to support and work with all parish councils within the area – strategically through the Nidderdale Strategic Partnership and locally through support for projects such as the Parish Caretaker scheme. In addition, parish councils are able to make use of our printing services and meeting space within the Partnership Office.

The following list details the parish councils within the Nidderdale Plus area (and parish clerk email addresses where known):
