The Nidderdale Plus Partnership is a not for profit organisation and charity, run by a management committee of local people. We champion the rural area of Nidderdale, support local voluntary and community organisations and help local residents to access local services.
We run a Community Hub for Nidderdale, bringing together many of our existing services, including the new Community Transport scheme, with a new community-run library (supported by North Yorkshire County Council). This will also provide us with opportunities for improving public access to learning and support (with increased opening hours) and meeting the needs of the most vulnerable within our communities.
We are open to the public Mondays 10-6, Tuesdays to Fridays 10 – 4, and at weekends from 10-1pm. We offer a wide variety of local services to residents and visitors. We work with a variety of organisations, including North Yorkshire County Council, Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire Police, to provide an access point for their services.
At our AGM in November 2014, our members voted unanimously in favour of us adopting new objects which better reflect our current and proposed work across Nidderdale communities. These can be viewed in our new governing document here: Nidderdale Plus Partnership new gov doc Nov 14
We provide opportunities for volunteering within Partnership Office (and in the Transport service, as drivers) enabling more individuals to make a positive contribution to community life, whilst improving their skills and knowledge.
The management committee of Nidderdale Plus recently agreed to the establishment of a subsidiary company, Nidderdale Limited, to run some of our more commercial services, including tourism and business services. A new Business Plan is also being developed, outcomes-based, in line with our purpose and focussed on local needs. Nidderdale Plus plans to undertake a Community Needs Assessment during 2017.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and our beneficiaries are the wider communities of Nidderdale. We recognise the need to ensure our services meet the needs of our more vulnerable residents and aim to sustain and further develop a thriving and inclusive rural community across Nidderdale.
